On May 16, we held a farewell ceremony for our graduates of the past academic year.
Dean of Studies Prof. Vojislav Krstic welcomed Dr. Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens AG, as a special guest this year. He himself studied physics at FAU and returned to his alma mater and the lecture hall on this evening. In an entertaining speech, Dr. Busch gave the graduates present a number of memories, anecdotes and reflections as well as recommendations for the future.
The Dean of Studies, Prof. Krstic, then addressed the graduates and their guests in a speech peppered with small physical experiments and, together with Prof. Maultzsch and Prof. Schmidt, presented the ceremonial certificates.
Another highlight was the presentation of the Ohm Prizes of the Department of Physics to the prize winners.
Once again this year, the festive atmosphere was enhanced by live music from the band Niglas T. Flimm, which accompanied the event.
The graduates and their guests then enjoyed a relaxed end to the evening with a standing snack and many interesting conversations and used the Alumni Association’s photo service to take numerous souvenir photos of the evening.
