Information first semester Master (M.Sc.) Physics

Dear students of the Master of Physics programme,

We are delighted to welcome you as a student of the Master of Physics programme at the Department of Physics.

To help you get off to a good start with your studies, we have compiled some important information for you, which you can find on the website listed below. The information is updated regularly, so it is worth checking back here again shortly before the start of the semester.

What you will find:

  • Information on introductory events — both general and subject-specific
  • A pdf handout containing all the important information and the first important dates, such as the dates of the first lectures
  • Information for international students — what you need to know before you arrive
  • A link to the Student Association (Fachschaftsinitiative, FSI) Math/Physics/DataScience website, which contains lots of information from students for students, including details of social events

You will also find the contact details for the Study Service Center (SSC) Physics, which is your first point of contact in the Department of Physics for almost all study-related queries. Further information about studying is also available on the SSC Physics website and on the SSC Physics StudOn page (only possible for enrolled students). You can also book personal consultation appointments directly on the SSC Physics StudOn page.

Central Welcome Week for international students

FAU offers a Welcome Week for all international students in the weeks befor lecture time. The program and further information about the central orientation courses for international students can be found here.

For students participating in the intensive off-term German language course (FIT course), you will find on the webseite information when the Welcome Day will take place.

There you will also find information about the central Late Arrival Day.

Welcome Event Master Physics at the Department of Physics

The Welcome Event for first-semester Master’s students in Physics will take place on Wednesday in the first lecture week.

The event will offer:

  • all important subject-specific information
  • lots of practical tips for a successful start to your Master’s programme
  • the opportunity to get to know your fellow students

The Welcome Event is the perfect opportunity to start your Master’s Programme well prepared and well connected. Even if you have already completed your Bachelor’s degree at FAU, you should not miss this event!

Unfortunately, we cannot issue you with a late arrival letter if you are unable to start your studies at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg in time for the start of the semester.
